Is MLM Confusing You?

The reason most people just can't seem to sign people up in their MLM business is because their mindset is wrong. The average person markets from a sales tip of "telling and selling." Let me ask you this: Would you buy something that someone begged you to buy by saying it's so amazing? No, your natural instinct is to think "why doesn't anyone else buy it?" For example, if you're trying to sell your house and start trying to convince people, they start pulling away wondering why you cant find someone else (what's wrong with this place?). Not to mention that you might be talking to someone who isn't the least bit interested in buying a house. So, now you have made up your mind that you won't take no for an answer, and you're trying to convince someone who is not even the least bit interested.

Rather then being good at selling, you want to be a great marker. Most start by telling their friends and prospects that they have to try this new drink because it's awesome; it cures cancer and brings people back from the dead! Ask yourself this: if someone told you that, what you would do? You would probably laugh. Especially if it's one of your friends that you've none since 3^rd grade and they never new anything about health before. Since people don't like to be sold, but love to buy they run as fast as they can when people start "telling and selling."

Now if your MLM upline teaches you psychology behind why people buy (if they even know), then you know people do love to by. Now the question becomes how to get people to run to me (instead of from me) to buy? Let's take a step back, and start this scenario over. Pretend that you see someone in the mall you haven't seen in a couple weeks, and you want to talk to them about your new enterprise! You go say "hi" just like normal. If you market a weight loss product, or nutritional product, like I do, you say, "Hey, what's new?" They tell you, then out of curiosity they ask you what's new with you. Now you have permission to give then a 20 second commercial about your product. It should go something like this: "Every things going great! The kids just started back at school, you know, the normal. Oh yeah! I also just lost 10 pounds (or whatever your product does)!" They will ask you about it, now you have permission to share, no not start telling and selling, but just give another 10 second commercial and the rest is history. If they're not interested, stop talking about it! You aren't going to convince them of anything. What you want to do is let them know what you're doing. Then, when something comes up (maybe they have a wedding to attend and can't fit into their dress), they will come back and say, "How did you lose that weight?" Now take that to every aspect of business and you will start making a paycheck and not a "play-check". (look for people that are looking for you ex. online)

I see a lot of people who love the concept of MLM, but they also think it's so dang confusing. This is not good because when people are confused, scared, or out of their element they tend to shut down.

First off, I think it's because most everyone in our society has a job - meaning they have job skills. Well, when you try to take job skills and transfer them into becoming an entrepreneur, failure hits. Because it takes a totally different set of skills you have to master to become an entrepreneur. Entrepreneurs don't have job titles and descriptions that let them know exactly what they have to do to create money. Whereas at a job, you know going into it exactly what you need to know and do so you don't get fired. Since people don't know exactly what it is they need to do (they know, but they don't make money until it's finished and that's different than working. Because, at a job, you get a paid along the way even if the work isn't all the way done). People do nothing or have entrepreneurial seizures and sit at their desk for eight hours, call their 40 leads, and call it a day, even though they get paid on results not time.

Lastly, people are used to getting paid on exchanging time for dollars. Meaning, linear pay: when they work, they get paid. Most MLM companies are all leveraged so you get paid off your own work and also the work of others. Just as if you were a real estate broker and you had realtors under you. So, basically, it's a whole paradigm shift. The good news is once you over come that, you will be on your way! And, if you have a good upline, you can accelerate this product much faster!

The reason MLM is worth figuring out is because once you figure it out, it will pay for you back time. If you have been in the industry for awhile and have had no success yet you may be in luck. That means you are probably on the verge of having a break through moment in your business. If you have only been in for a year or six months, then you still have a little bit of a learning curve left. It takes most people about one to five years to have success in network marketing.

This is where a major key comes into play: When you join with the right leader(s), you can expedite the learning curve quite a bit. So, what should you look for when you're finding a leader to join? One important thing to find out is if the leader is actually doing what they're telling their team to do. Otherwise, they might not know what they're talking about (duh)! You also want to sign up with a leader who has had experience. Now, this point is not quite as important as other things, IF, and only IF, the person you're joining has a strong upline. You may be prospected by somebody who just started their MLM business. So, instead of looking at the leadership qualities they have (because in all likelihood, they're not going to have many), you should be looking up to the person who they are going to look up to (because this is who will be teaching you too). It's also important to join with somebody that you feel a connection with! You will be working and learning closely with this person, so if you can't stand somebody, it's probably not a good idea to join with them!
