What kind of marketing plans does the MLM Business have?

Something you should consider when starting a new MLM business is what the compensation plan is. There are pros and cons to every compensation plan; therefore, naturally, some people prefer one plan over the other. Personally, I like the binary plan that my company offers for one big reason. My company pays on infinity in both legs (some companies only pay on the "weak leg," which to me translates to the fact I'm not getting paid on most of my work). This creates, I feel, a sense of team because I have been told by so many people that they really feel confident in sharing their "secrets" with the team because they benefit from the work of the others!

Success in an MLM business doesn't depend on the compensation plan; however, the compensation plan can play a big roll in how fast you will become successful. Some MLM companies have a huge pay out for every sale, which seems great at first. But, it might take 6 months to make your first sale. You may understand that, but are people you sign up going to have the patience to stick with it without being paid for so long? Other compensation plans pay a percentage of the sale. The sale is smaller, so the pay is smaller. This is more of a "slow and steady" plan. However, you have a much larger market you can advertise to. Everybody can afford $150, but it is a lot harder for a lot of American's to swallow a $10,000 investment that might never pay. There are a lot of pros and cons when considering starting an MLM business and the compensation plan is one. So, find out what you like best and go with it!

Consider This: What Product Does the MLM Business sell?

To some, the product that a MLM business sells is very important and to others it doesn't matter. There are people who succeed at a network marketing business who have never used the product that they sell, but there are also people who don't feel comfortable selling something that they haven't used themselves. You will decide where you fit on this spectrum. Personally, I feel that it is important to at least try the product a couple of different times; however, I also think it's better to market a product that you use because you are much more likely to be excited about how the product that the MLM business markets is affecting your life.

If you are going to market a health and nutrition product but you yourself hate to take vitamins, it is going to be hard to sell these products (after all, energy is a huge part of sales and marketing...and people can usually "read" your energy whether it's over the phone or online.) It is also important to chose to market a product that you like because all MLM companies require that you put in a minimum order each month. I suppose if you don't use the product yourself, a solution would be to give samples or sell it at retail, but again, the energy you put into the universe about what you're marketing is what you will get back. So, if you hate nutrition products and that's what you're marketing, I can almost guarantee that you will attract people who hate nutrition products!

Who are the Leaders that You are Signing Up With in the MLM Business?

This section of my hub is not meant to deter you from signing up with the person who is prospecting you into their MLM business. However, I do beg that you consider who exactly you are getting involved with. Have they had any success in the network marketing industry before? No? Who is their upline and do they have any success? Is there a concrete system to follow? What kind of training will they provide you with? These are a couple important questions to consider before joining any MLM company. I am not saying that you shouldn't sign up with somebody who is new in the industry, but what I am saying is that you should sign up with a successful TEAM that works together! Your upline might jump ship and disappear, so you want to know that even if this happens, you will have access to training, systems, and leaders.

Another thing you want to consider is: how much time will your leaders be able to devote to you? I see a lot of people sign up with huge leaders in network marketing companies, and then wonder why they can barley get an email back. Well, newsflash: these leaders are busy and unless you show some potential, you probably won't get attention from them! This is not always the case, and a lot of times big leaders will create other leaders within the team to assist other team members. Make sure you feel comfortable with the way the system works. Know what is going to happen when you sign up. Will you be passed on to somebody else, or will the person you sign up with have the time to assist you directly? Know and be OK with whichever answer you have, sign up, and start producing!
